As the series we’re working on and off called Sorrow Flowers explores, this illustration called “Sorrow Cypress” speaks for the Cypress Tree- in this case a branch soon to bloom.
With the established meaning of sorrow and sadness, these are popular trees in Cemeteries where they symbolize the mourning and the despair related to losing someone dear to our heart.
Less known is how they are meant to ward evil spirits away and an eastern symbol for life and eternity.
The Cypress branch on its way to bloom, finds the path to bring light to the darkness.

This is gorgeous! I can see why the cypress would be a symbol of eternity. They grow slowly, but still they reach ever upward. 😊
