Wonder no more, this looks and is officially a happy dance for reaching 200 followers here on our Starlit Den.
The happy critters entertaining you are Ruby and Jade, the characters to make an appearance on Jalek Moye’s visual novel named “Book of Zhu: Legacy”.
This was an amazing commission that challenged us to bring characters inspired on ourselves while following the guidelines of races and classes within the game’s universe.
“StarTwo is a small troupe of two lady rascals who perform for the masses, for their amusement and their own bread winning. They would surely tell you their name, but you’d pay with your life for such information thus, only their nicknames are known. Ruby, a Neko race black cat, draws the crowd’s attention with her illusions and together with Jade, a Xerin red fox, dazzles them with their wild dancing.”
We hope you’re curious enough to go over to the Book of Zhu website to know more about this amazing world that is “The Book of Zhu”!
And now last but certainly not least, we want to thank each and every one of our followers, the new and the long lasting, for the continuous support!♥
Thank you for giving us your attention and we’ll keep sharing with you a bit of ourselves with each new post.
Hello, hello! Did you miss us? We sure missed you and your support and we’re back today with a brand new feature for this blog! Well, that’s just a fancy way of saying you’re going to get another drawing to check even if it comes with a twist!
Weirdness online. We all stumbled upon it once or twice (or thrice) and there are many, many things in this vast virtual land that makes us go “whaaat?”. So we have decided, as a good way to keep our skills sharp and also give a bit of who we are and what makes us tick, to once in a while do a sketch or a full artwork based on the silly, crazy stuff that we come across.
So yes, welcome to the Weird Wide Web by Startwo!! Woot! And to kick things off, here’s a pic based on one of the weirdest videos on Youtube – Meow Meow I am a cat.
What is it about this thing that got us? From the really wonky 3D animation, to the cryptic vocals/words and setting, these humanoid creatures that call themselves cats, are the best. They have such a weird pattern and death like stare that you can feel it stealing your soul. The worst/best bit is that you end up with the nightmarish mantra they sing in your head for quite a while to the point of obsession… hm, maybe it’s just us. Teehee?
Like we said, we’ll be doing more of these from now on to challenge ourselves and if you would like to send us links to weird videos or images, go ahead! Just please, nothing overly gross or sexual, we would like to keep this blog youngster friendly ♥
See you all soon and for those of you who are enjoying the summer time, Happy Holidays!
Portrait and commission making, no time to eat, no time to sleep… that’s the rush you get when you’re at a con!
But really, why words when we can show you the images of Iberanime Lisbon 2016?
We weren’t disappointed with the Trex weight loss program at the con. …Fine, not really, just a guy in a mini trex costume running on Sonic the Hedgehog’s ring… We’re sticking to the personal coach cheering, though.
Thank you to everyone that came by JANKENPON’s stand!
No time for resting, and keeping the nitro gear close!
Ideally every time you start working on a drawing, you should warm up first.
We bring you a small speed-drawing of what we sometimes do with straight to pen sketches, skipping the stage of penciling the sketch as a start.
(The original video at normal speed is 5 minutes)
This was also to get the feeling of the pen as it was the first time to use it. It’s a V SignPen from Pilot, it has a medium sized stroke with a dense black colour.
Have you used this pen before? It felt really nice to draw with it. It has a nice flow and the deepness of the black was a nice surprise, there was no washed out ink at all.
It’s not a tool to work on details, obviously. But it delivers very well on the boldness when its needed.
The impossibility to control time or realize how fast it goes sometimes, struck us today. Our little blog is one year old already! Happy Birthday, blog! One year on the virtual world and your owners have only been active for the last two months… oopsie.
We’re struggling with a lot of work but we didn’t want to let time go by again and made this little picture to mark the beginning of our new, main window to the world. And of course…
We would very much like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the visits we have been receiving and followers who are keeping an eye on our silly musings. Thank you very much for being there on the other side of the screen! So indeed:
