Easter Time for an Easter Race

Ready, Set, Bunnies!

Here’s the first stage -traditional pencil sketch- of the first illustration of a series.
Who will get the Lapin Coronet as the winner of the The Great Easter Race?!

“A Crown fit for a Princess. A Crown fit for me.”

First Contender is Buttercup and her were-rabbits. She loves the taste of victory in everything she gets involved in. And a crown would definitely match her princess-like demeanor.

“Why do you build me up Buttercup, baby just to let me down and mess me around~♪♫”

We love the original song from “The Foundations” but surely you’ll understand that Buttercup is not a bunny to mess around when the race gets hot and her blood runs faster. And of course, always keeping her class ♥ she needs a faster beat.

This is the original song from “The Foundations” :

Book of Zhu – Maru Ibeshi

Maru_w_letterings

Maru, standing strong with an opposite demeanor than his sister, Rani.

Meet another character from the “Book of Zhu”, the visual novel placed in a setting heavily based on martial arts fantasy.

Here is Rani‘s younger brother, Maru.
Without an early assigned job like his sister and the experience and training derived from that opportunity, Maru at his current age hasn’t matched his sister’s levels as he keeps studying in hopes to decide his future.

Being a calm and reserved boy, he watches his mother’s attention being diverted to his sister and her antics, leaving him feeling a bit put aside.
Despite all that, he relies on his sister’s advice and comfort as he searches his own path.

There’s a lot more to know about him and other characters right at the Book of Zhu website!

We intend to do more posts about the work we have done -and keep doing- for Book of Zhu, so stay tuned!★★

Book of Zhu – Rani Ibeshi

Meet Rani, if you feel like you shouldn’t poke her even from a safe distance, you’re definitely right. She’s a strong fighter with a matching attitude.

We bring you another character from the “Book of Zhu”, the visual novel placed in a setting heavily based on martial arts fantasy.

Rani belongs to the high caste society, settled since young age to be the retainer of Princess Aya, everyone seems to see her hardly unfit for the job with her rebellious attitude and shortcuts from the protocol required.
Despite everything pointed at her, Rani remains a strong fighter, away from criminal activity and always at Princess Aya’s side as a retainer and as a friend.

Hand Warm up speed-drawing

Standard

Ideally every time you start working on a drawing, you should warm up first.
We bring you a small speed-drawing of what we sometimes do with straight to pen sketches, skipping the stage of penciling the sketch as a start.
(The original video at normal speed is 5 minutes)

This was also to get the feeling of the pen as it was the first time to use it. It’s a V SignPen from Pilot, it has a medium sized stroke with a dense black colour.

Have you used this pen before? It felt really nice to draw with it. It has a nice flow and the deepness of the black was a nice surprise, there was no washed out ink at all.
It’s not a tool to work on details, obviously. But it delivers very well on the boldness when its needed.

Don’t forget to warm up and have a great week!★★

The music is from http://www.bensound.com and the hand is from the cat (Sara).

Art Art, Seal it with Art!

We actually don’t know what the representation of a seal’s sound is, so this will be the official one for us from now on.

Sometimes you need to reach a point of insanity to pick yourself up and keep going… We reached that point and are getting there.

We can’t possibly put to words the silliness that lead to this image, but if you’re granted with the gift of imagination you’ll be able to see how this image was born.

Yes, even the calls of seals can remind you to art.

So stay inspired and keep “arting”!★★
