Red and her bodyguards

Today we bring you a bit of the unexpected. Meet Miss Red and her bodyguards~

Before you start wondering how rushed it looks we want to confess! This was supposed to be a simple preliminary study on composition and colours for something we’re working on that ended up getting a little more rendered than planned.

We really don’t mind, it almost gained a life of its own, and that’s always a good feeling for us♥

Now back to work!!★★

Juggle, juggle

1: Animation for FNF:
2: Convention’s website: (we’ll be doing a Q&A there!)
3: Bartkira!! :
4: No links to that one, thank goodness.

And there’s still plenty more (you know who you are!) but we ran out of balls…

Lotte and Korr – Boundless

First encounter of the Human named Lotte (right) and the Vetlian named Korr (left). Shock at first sight?

We already had the opportunity to talk about the wonderful experience we had in Belgium while attending “Europe Animate 2015” but not about the main characters of the comic we participated with. Gentlepeople, meet Lotte and Korr!

Europe in the year 2415, where Humanity has expanded their technology, enabling the contact with other planets.

Lotte is a Human girl, she works for EUPO (European United Post Office) as a mail carrier all around Europe, meeting her daily quota thanks to warp portals. The moment she heard about the exchange between planets, she volunteered at once. Afterall it’s not everyday that you meet an outer space being!

Korr in the other hand was reluctant, but being the son of a Vetlian diplomat carried a responsibility and despite his denial, curiosity had a great part in him accepting this mission.

Together they go through an enlightening experience of discovery and growth towards their differences.

This doesn’t mean it’s an easy task. But as often, hardships bring them closer to find a solution.

We are still working on them both thanks to a new project with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and we’re extremely enthusiastic and thrilled about it, we can’t wait to share more with you, but for now we have to keep it a secret…

Stay tuned for updates on these two very soon!!★★

Murder of Crows

MurderArms1000bCrows are constantly used in mythology and legends as messengers and seem to always be in close contact with Death. They are given several symbolic meanings and among many others, they are also a symbol of devotion and faithfulness.

This work tried to portray the limbo of a crow that just passed away, changing shape from the darkest grasp into a new form. It is welcomed by another crow- her mate, gone before her and already in full form- lending his hands as her wings while she doesn’t sprout her own.

Do you use your art to do some self-therapy? This was very good to channel some less brighter feelings (we all have those days!) and to explore techniques and speed working without obsessing over details. A “let it flow” sort of thing.

Stay inspired and have a great week, everyone!★★

Portraits and Sunshine

Yesterday was delivery day. We had brought back commission work from an event we attended a couple of weeks ago (more on that soonish!) and it was a relaxing pleasure to finally have them all ready to go.

These are the three left to send!

We usually open for portraits at events only and when there’s too many clients to handle, only then do we resort to taking commissions back with us and mailing them later on. Our process is rather simple: we begin by sketching the main shapes work our way to the details.

portrait_egAt events, our drawing hands always end up feeling like they’re going to fall off – speed is key, so it’s therapeutic to take our time with these ones that don’t require super speed.
We packed them portraits and off we went to the post office! And hurray, such a sunny day!

Gorgeous weather and a gorgeous town!

It’s a blessing to be able to walk in the sun and wear T-shirts in November. We do know we are blessed and to catch a bit of fresh air was very liberating, especially when we two usually stay at the studio for days on end like recluses doing time for some harsh penalty… fortunately we love this job ♥

Now we just need to find out a better postal service method to avoid overcharging our portrait clients… anyone got tips?
