We got two events on the first two weekends of September and as time rushes by, we’re getting work done and ready for them. We’ll make sure to share with you guys some wips and hopefully no frustrations! This cute demon girl is a study for a poster although we don’t know if we’ll be selling it on this event or not yet. Decisions, decisions…
Wonder no more, this looks and is officially a happy dance for reaching 200 followers here on our Starlit Den.
The happy critters entertaining you are Ruby and Jade, the characters to make an appearance on Jalek Moye’s visual novel named “Book of Zhu: Legacy”.
This was an amazing commission that challenged us to bring characters inspired on ourselves while following the guidelines of races and classes within the game’s universe.
“StarTwo is a small troupe of two lady rascals who perform for the masses, for their amusement and their own bread winning. They would surely tell you their name, but you’d pay with your life for such information thus, only their nicknames are known. Ruby, a Neko race black cat, draws the crowd’s attention with her illusions and together with Jade, a Xerin red fox, dazzles them with their wild dancing.”
We hope you’re curious enough to go over to the Book of Zhu website to know more about this amazing world that is “The Book of Zhu”!
And now last but certainly not least, we want to thank each and every one of our followers, the new and the long lasting, for the continuous support!♥
Thank you for giving us your attention and we’ll keep sharing with you a bit of ourselves with each new post.
Being a petite Demon sometimes can be a hassle. If she says she’ll bite if you get too close, then she will and then you’ll need demon anti venom, and then what? Tsk tsk…
Speaking of candy, once there were these translucid hardcandy, they were oval and flat. We never saw these again and it’s a shame because they were delicious! Specially the strawberry ones.
Make sure to bite only what you can handle!★★
Hello there, everyone!
We’re getting close to another event thus we’ve been busy getting things ready for it (more on that soon!) and, since we’ll be doing manga portraits and it seems people have been curious about our method, we decided to share it with you today.
So let’s begin! (don’t be afraid, we won’t be giving you big walls of text *wink*).
You can click the images to see them bigger!
We chose a random character of ours for this and we begin by making a sketch usually with a coloured lead such as blue or red. We like these two colours a lot since it makes it easier to remove them digitally if we so desire later.
After we’re happy with our sketch, we use a regular B lead to pencil over the red lines and flesh out our drawing completely. We prefer the dark tone of the B lead since it will contrast better with the red and white of the paper. And then, thanks to our image editing software magic, we play with the channels of the image and away with the red and hello black!
This is the perfect method to quickly get your lines done and coloured and with proper care for the black lines, you don’t even need to ink your artwork, saving yourself some time when you’re rushing through deadlines.
Hope you guys enjoyed this quick demo and let us know if you would be interested in a detailed walk-through/tutorial involving the digital steps to clean the image of the red lines. Just let us know in the comments!
See you next time!
We would like to wish you a very tardy yet merry Happy New Year! For us it still feels a bit surreal that another year went by, but that’s often the rule and not the exception.
2015 was an amazing year. We feel like it was a year for inner growth and to decide to put ourselves more “out there”. It’s still a work in progress but do check our previous posts to know more <3
But now onwards to some new content or at least, a long due update! It’s also the reason why we evaporated from the web for a while.
Among finishing our projects (FNF, Bartkira), we had two events in less than a month to attend.
The first was Iberanime Opo, an anime event that is huge here in Portugal and the second was Comic Con Portugal, an even larger event with people from around the world attending and us, with spinning eyes and “busy” as our middle name, trying to keep up!
We sadly don’t have many photos to share, (we spent most of our time with the nose glued to the paper!) but here’s a little gallery just for you.
We hope you had wonderful holidays and a great 2016 start . As for us, let’s get the engines started and try our best this year too!
Let’s get busy!
