Meanwhile: Horrible Histories

Keeping the balance between projects and a few short breaks brings us to find small pearls that keep us functional and what’s better than being entertained? Well, to share it, of course!

We came across a Youtube channel named Horrible Histories which is not only entertaining but also brings you snippets of history in a fun way.
Yes, we are aware that their target is a younger audience, but some parts of the show are quite well achieved in a “Monty Python”-ny kind of comedy.

At the moment Cleopatra’s song and “Wife swaps” (shared below) are on the top list in making us chuckle – chuckle or at least exhaling from the nose, which still fits in the entertained category, so it works.

Hopefully it brightens your day a little and entertains you with not only comedy but also facts about history (while demystifying others).

Bartkira StarTwo style! Vol 5

Hello everyone!★★
Today we bring you the page we did for the Bartkira project – Vol.5. (in addition to the ones we did for Vol.4! Check the post about it ►here◄ )
For those who are not familiar with the project, here’s the description on the Bartkira Roadshow youtube channel:

“Bartkira is an animated parody mash-up of The Simpsons and Akira. Based on an idea by Ryan Humphrey articulated through comics, the concept was expanded with the Bartkira project, a comic collaboration of Simpsons fans, curated by James Harvey. In association with the comic, Moon Animate Make-Up producer Kaitlin Sullivan pitched the idea of an animated trailer to match and with the work of over fifty artists, produced the Bartkira animated trailer.”

We had a lot of fun once again, as expected, but there was more work involved due to the different characters and rhythm of the action.
Despite the slow pace, this gave us an opportunity to turn what could be considered a “boring” page into something more into the Simpsons’ Universe, but not without being worried on how to translate “Akira” into “Simpsons”.

In the end we decided to bring a story within a story, hence the “squidnapping”, making this our favourite page from the ones we made. Well, besides the one with the appearance of Sideshow Bob, because… It’s Sideshow Bob.

The birth of a new obsession & step by step!

Howdy everyone!

Posting regularly is really not an easy feat, good thing we’re two right? Welp…
We’re forever busy handling comics and illustrations that we hope to share with you as soon as we get the a-ok from our clients and in the meanwhile we’ll try to drop by more often with our silly ramblings, doodles and whatnots.

As much as we love videogames we sadly don’t have the time to play them as much as before (howling sigh) and there’s so many hot titles coming out…one of them being FF XV.
We’re not exactly fans of the new titles of the franchise (snes die hard fans forever! Woo!) but what are two girls to do about part of the cast… well.. ahem. Do expect a bit of male fanservice here and there from now on. (Persona 5 is also on the way so… yeah… more fanservice)

But let’s go back to the title of this post and share with you a quick step by step example of what we do with an image.
Step 1: Sketched some characters (in this case a rather fed up Gladiolus and an overjoyed Prompto)
Step 2: Scanned our image and fixed what needed fixing in our software of choice. In this case we cleaned up some of the lines and drew some things better.
Step 2b: Dropped some basic colours on top focusing on not overwhelming the sketch (also we were taking a tea break so we didnt have the time to go overboard)
Step 3: Played with crop, contrast and brightness, slapped a texture on top and our logo fully knowing that although this sketch is done, our fawning over these handsome guys is just beginning…

Inktober 2016 – Day 29

Always be wary Mr. Wolf… It’s Halloween season and poisoned candy is a possibility~♥

Yay, in two days it will be our favorite holiday again! You better be careful out there and give some good thought about your costume for Trick-or-Treating, lest you attract the wrong type of crowd!

Halloween is starting to be more popular in our country nowadays but alas, this year we don’t have time to party. Is anyone dressing up this year? If so, what will your costume be? We’re always curious as to what everyone’s choice is when it comes to trick or treating!✦

Art Art, Seal it with Art!

We actually don’t know what the representation of a seal’s sound is, so this will be the official one for us from now on.

Sometimes you need to reach a point of insanity to pick yourself up and keep going… We reached that point and are getting there.

We can’t possibly put to words the silliness that lead to this image, but if you’re granted with the gift of imagination you’ll be able to see how this image was born.

Yes, even the calls of seals can remind you to art.
