Since we’re going back to submitting recent works to Deviantart (an art community online), we thought it would be a nice cross posting opportunity, since we’ve been wanting to post this fiery couple for quite a while.

Since we can’t yet share the work we’re doing at the moment, here’s an illustration detail waiting to be inked and coloured on standby mode.

It’s called the Wheel of Fortune and it’s fueled by the idea that the Wheel will keep turning no matter what.

Spring It Con 2016

One happy fox and one happy cat!

Hello everyone!
On our last moments of Summer we gave it our all at a new robust Con that arose here in sunny Portugal called Spring It. We were kindly invited to participate in exchange for two commissions to be offered as prizes at the event’s raffles, so how could we say no to that?

003

Commission #1: Cosplay Theme

002

Commission #2: Prop Making Theme

Both were made in regular canson paper and pigmas and lightly decorated with a gold frame. Yeah… we wanted to add gold details to the pictures but we ran out of time for that. Shh, they don’t need to know about that!

We also participated in their Comic’s Panel where we spoke about our experience in the comic industry along other rising Portuguese authors and gave a mini manga workshop. And still managed time to draw for the good people that attended and sell our prints! Such an eventful event!

We really enjoyed how this one came out!

And the satisfied costumers!! Thank you very much!

Two happy, frantic days and one more to get our strength back, and we’re ready to get back to our usual business. Stay tuned for more as soon as we can! Cheers!!

Back in action with Japan’s Party/Festa do Japão 2016!

Standard

Oh dear here we go, getting cobwebs on this blog…
Dear everyone, thank you once again for sticking around and still being willing to continue following our (mis)adventures in the real and virtual world! We are back once again and will happily resume posting to our hearts content so please ride the hype train with us!

Like always, we went M.I.A. for good reasons, one of them being our participation on last weekend’s Japan Party! It’s the equivalent of England’s Japanese Matsuri in London and we were so glad to attend!

A hot, sunny day for a bright party! Koi, koi everywhere!

Helping to get the stand ready and realizing the sun was ready to cook everything alive. Better put those noodles in the shade guys!

We got invited due to our participation on Jan Ken Pon’s newest issue that featured a whole story from 2010 by 50% StarTwo (here’s looking at the Cat) and it was just perfect for the party. The theme was chosen and celebrated the 150 years of friendship between Portugal and Japan.

It made our hearts skip a beat to be honest ♥

Apart from helping promote the Jan Ken Pon’s comic newspaper, we were also there to give autographs and make some portraits and since we had the time for it, we actually had a little Japan Party Souvenir ready! If anyone wants to buy one of these, get in touch, thank you!

But because we were in an open space, people started to approach us even before the event started. We truly wished we had pretty pictures of everything that went on stage but…

Draw faster!! Relax we got this, I t-think!

Draw faster!! Relax we got this, I t-think!

… but soon this was our reality. It’s bizniss as usual for us. We’re so happy about that but boy, it was really demanding, especially as the day progressed. Next time, hats. Definitely hats. If you guys ever have to draw outside, even inside a comfy stand, get hats.

Our many thanks to Jan Ken Pon who took some of these photos and to everyone who gave us a hand, spoke to us and congratulated us on our work! We will aim for better, always!

Apologies if we sound too hyper. Chocolate cookies and coffee are the culprits. Take care everyone! See you soon!

FNF Europe – An adventure in Belgium!

CptEurope_ecSAVE US CAPTAIN EUROPE! CAPTAIN AMERICA GOT NOTHING ON YOU!

On the 14th of October we took flight to Belgium to attend the ceremony of this year’s Animate Europe by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.

20151015_003511It was an International Competition, with more than 60 people participating and from those 60, 7 finalists emerged and Startwo was on that short list.

Commence panic mode.

The event took place at the prestige Belgium Comic Center, and if you click the image you’ll see on the far right the event’s super mascot, Captain Europe no less!

20151014_192106_Richtone(HDR)Yep, even heroes need to check their phones. Loving the boots, Captain ♥!

Everything happened so fast. Too fast. Maybe because we were so nervous, everything seemed to swirl before us. There can’t be enough praise however for the wonderful people from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, including Mr. Hans H. Stein, Christina Brunnenkamp and Caroline Margaux Haury. They made us feel right at home and we had a lovely evening!

So, did we win?

20151014_202130Well, no and yes!

First place went to Nicole Knötig and the rest of us finalists received a honourable mention but the Foundation via the wonderful and kind Christina Brunnenkamp, made a request if our sassy characters could be the cover for the event’s book, with the seven comics inside!

20151014_202103Yay! That’s our babies right there!!

So now our little comic is going to go on tour through Europe and this precious book is going to be available for everyone who goes to see the exhibition!

Fu¦êrDieFreiheit--®-photo-BThe finalists, us included, and the event’s organizers! Thank you once again for your kindness! Oh, by the way, we’re the two smiling fiends with blue scarf and yellow shirt ;) – Photo by Bénédicte Maindiaux

We’re leaving out the details of our tale on purpose. We will write a whole new post about our comic soon!

And of course, if you ever go to Belgium, don’t forget to munch down some amazing goffres! Goffres will save the world!

We plan on participating on the next competition! See you again, Europe Animate! Thank you for having us!!
